About the event:
The Nottingham Post Business Awards is an annual award and this year the event was organised by Champions and our Start-Up Business of the Year category was sponsored by The WBS Group. The WBS Group “covers all aspects of mechanical and electrical (M&E) work as well as data centre infrastructure installation” and Champions “specialise in providing professional event management and planning services to businesses across the country”. Both are brilliant companies that we were so pleased to engage with, make sure to check out their websites and social media accounts!
Regarding the process, many can think it is complicated, overwhelming or simply not worth it, well let me tell you all now, it is simple, fun and definitely worth it! The first step of the application process is to simply fill out an online application form. There were over 40 applicants which then got narrowed down to 3. The WBS Group decided who the three finalists were. The 3 finalists from each category and the sponsors were invited for a champagne evening at Alea Casino. This was a great chance for us all to meet and greet, mingle and get to know each other whilst also networking with great local businesses. This was a very fun night and it got us at Link3 very excited for what was to come next. One day a videographer from Champions came in to take some shots of us in action. Another day Ian Patilla, the Director of The WBS Group and Charlotte Ryan, the Office Manager came into the office for a visit. This was an opportunity to get to know each other more personally and a chance for us to speak more openly about our business and our passion for it.
Next was the event, which was located at The East Midlands Conference Centre. We were reunited with Ian who presented the awards and the rest of the finalists. The evening was hosted by Comedian Mark Dolan and Olympian and Badminton Player, Gail Emms and we were treated to a lovely meal and the place was decorated beautiful. The entertainment for the evening was even more beautiful as BelleVoci, The Voice UK Finalist sang for all the guests. There was plenty to do, plenty of wonderful people to engage with whilst we were waiting for the results.
After we were announced Start-Up Business Winners 2019 and many other people were announced as winners of awards, we became very busy. There were many people congratulating us, taking our photographs and interviewing us, such as The Nottingham Post. This was all a surreal and extremely fun experience for us. We would like to say a massive thank you for being chosen by Ian and The WBS Group once more and a massive well done to the other business who won or was nominated for an award.
What is next?
This has been very exciting for us and we are so proud and happy that all of our hard work is being recognised. We are going to continue to do what we do best, and we are certain our business will continue to grow! We have a few exciting things happening soon and we will keep you all updated!
